Introducing Aeravis 3. A fully iOS-native weather application newly upgraded to provide a modern way to access many of the National Weather Service's official forecast products and probabilities, designed as the groundwork for future projects that will represent a new paradigm for weather communication.

At Stormwell Labs LLC, our mission is to provide high-quality personalized weather communication to everyday Americans and advance general weather and climate understanding. We fundamentally believe that the future of weather communication looks far different than the broadcast, one-to-many approach we are all familiar with from the NWS, digital streamers, etc. Aeravis 3 represents our first major step in that direction, by establishing a core baseline of the level of quality and thoughtfulness ordinary Americans should expect from their weather applications.

Here's what's new!

(1) Maps and Nowcasting

With Aeravis v3, the web view radar has been replaced with a custom weather map that puts current observations, official products, and hazards in one place. Users can view animated radar frames with 1km MRMS resolution, add or change layers to show only the information they need in the movement, or create presets to view frequently-used datasets. Supported layers include radar, SPC/WPC/CPC/NHC outlooks, drought information, river gauge data, and so much more. All powered by Apple's native MapKit technology, for the best possible iOS integration.

(2) Forecast Intelligence

Why download a separate weather app to get alternative predictions or wade into highly technical waters just to see probabilistic information when you can compare available forecasts against previous predictions right in the same app you use for your day to day decision making? With Aeravis v3, you can compare available forecasts against each other AND against earlier predictions with automatically provided context so knowing how to plan for your day is less intuition and more reality. When the forecast changes, as it often does in severe weather contexts, Aeravis 3 will inform you of what changed so you're never surprised by atmospheric variability.

(3) Observations and Climate

Want to know how your current day or week compares to "normal"? In the Aeravis 3 dedicated climate hub, you can view the 1991-2020 normals for the nearest climate station and compare against recent days. You can also see the all-time records for certain weather variables to contextualize the departure from normal against the all-time recorded extreme. Basic climate history and drought information is also available in interactive form!

Nearest weather station down? With Aeravis v3, switching between stations is a first-class experience that allows you to view available data sources nearby as well as compare their recent history, so you can see for yourself where the best information available for your area is coming from. Your local data source is not a forgotten toggle somewhere on screen, but a real destination of its own.

(4) Specialized Products

Aspiring meteorologist or just curious about the stuff under the hood? Not to worry! A wide catalog of specialized products from the National Weather Service are available, including but not limited to the written discussions of your local NWS meteorologists and Storm Prediction Center severe weather outlooks. Winter weather, fire weather, excessive rainfall, and other NOAA outlooks are available as well in static and interactive form.

(5) Personalization

Aeravis 3 is meant to serve YOU! Aeravis v3 includes many customization options, from reordering the sections of the Home tab to customizing map layers, units for weather variables like temperature, and specialized monitoring profiles to keep track of a specific set of conditions that matter more than most. We're always open to hearing more about what you'd like to customize!

(6) Siri AI & Shortcuts support

Aeravis v3 includes full support for Siri AI and Apple Shortcuts, allowing for you to ask natural language questions about the weather ("Hey Siri, what's the forecast for Norman tomorrow?") to the new Siri and get official, trusted weather data back without opening the app. In addition, you can use Shortcuts to set up recurring tasks, such as having Aeravis provide you the precipitation forecast for the next day every evening at 6 PM. Integration with frontier third-party intelligence is on the roadmap.
